Adal and Adel celebrated their one and a half year on the 23rd May 08 after work on a Friday, and made reservations at Satsuma Japanese dining at Gallery Hotel.
Due to a shifting of Adal's office, the office was vacated at 5pm, and Adel came by after bringing some old folks to Kong Guan Factory (which sells packed pau and dim sum) for a visit.
They went down to Gallery hotel and reached around 5.15, but as Satsuma only opens at 6 sharp, A&A went down to eM By The River for a cold drink.
We both tried the Lime Magherita and agreed simultaneously that it tasted HORRIBLE. At least it was cold and cost $10 nett.
After that we lounged around complaining about the time and finally went to the 2nd floor of Satsuma Shochu Dining Bar for dinner.
It was so dark and romantic! And after the shot of Magherita on an empty stomach, we both felt like sleeping heh heh.
My Yuzu Tea! It was highly recommended and tasted quite ok - unique and smooth to the taste but the pulp kept getting stuck in my straw so I had to blow into the straw once every so often, prompting strange and dirty looks from the waitresses who thought I was playing with my drink.
Adel's Umeshu! It was quite normal, very Choya-esque.
Our first Dish! Spinach in Sesame dressing! It was cold and VERY NICE!!!

Our second dish - Kaki Omelette, or Orh-jian lah. Very nice as the oysters were really plump and juicy and the egg was moist and the sauce they dribbled over it made it sweet and savoury. Not many oysters (2? Maybe 3?), but quite worth it for $9 as there was no starch and wasn't too oily.
The Black Angus Beef. We were expecting an entire steak, so when we saw the 2 sticks we both went =.=''''''''
Sashimi Moriawase! Not very fresh leh. A bit chewy and the knifework was quite terrible with some horribly thick slices and some paper thin slices. Either he was very skilled or very clumsy.
Prawn wrapped in bacon and basil leaves - quite good - the prawn was infused with the bacon taste and charcoal grilled; but on the other hand if you gave me prawn, bacon and a charcoal grill I could probably do the same thing. Not OOMPH-ressive.

Soft Shell Crab - was very crispy but not very meaty.
Grilled Mackarel - nice and moist but mackarels tend to be quite boney so not easy to eat. Overpriced at $28.
King Prawns! Even after squeezing the lemon in it tasted bland. We've tasted better ones at buffets.
Our last dish! The Spicy Roe Spaghetti - it was rather nice and thick with roe, so if you like roe, this is for you. The serving is quite small though - if you have a relatively big mouth you could finish it with 1, maybe 2 bites.
We called for the bill and it came up to $190 plus taxes and service! God heavens we were quite appalled (even though we were expecting it lah).
LOVE YOU DEAR! Looking forward to more and more reasons to celebrate being with you =))

After the entire event we found that the only item that stayed on our minds was the spinach haha..
But all in all, the company's all that matters! And I really enjoyed myself that night, even though we risked rolling down the stairs after the meal since we were both slightly tipsy kekekeke.
