The restaurant from outside(If you comment on my hair I'll spam you. )
While waiting for the video, here's a rough draft of how it happened - take note it's really wordy :
6th June 2007
Start inquiring on the cost of Solitaire rings from SK - particularly the Brilliant Rose. Unable to come up with solid answers.
Plot to propose during baptismal - where I thought of giving my testimonial during the baptismal on the 24th December and then right after that, propose to Adeline in front of all her friends, relatives and church members.
6th November 2007
Emailed Sensei and friends to tell them about proposal. Asked sensei for advice on rings.
12th November 2007
Ordered Gold Rose
17th November 2007
Emailed Pastor to ask if I can propose to Adeline during baptismal testimony.
Totally denied.
PANIC TIME HAHAHAHA!
Totally denied.
PANIC TIME HAHAHAHA!
22nd November 2007
Got gold rose while studying for exams
23rd November 2007
1st Year Anniversary!!
Emailed Sensei more details about the ring.
7th December 2007
1) Received email from Adel about the programme in her office on Christmas Eve
2) emailed to person in charge of programme (not difficult since she was in the programme list emailed over by Adel)
=====================
Hi Cas,
I'd greatly appreciate if you could keep what I'm going to tell you confidential and totally secret for now as I'm still unravelling some plans.
I'd greatly appreciate if you could keep what I'm going to tell you confidential and totally secret for now as I'm still unravelling some plans.
I'm going to propose to my girlfriend, Ms Adeline sometime in December, and would like to know if it's possible to hijack around 10 minutes of the Year End celebrations so I can propose to her during the celebrations?
If so, could I know what the celebration activities will be like and when is the estimated time it will end, please?
Please remember to keep this totally confidential for now and not let anyone know for now; I'll seek the appropriate approval if all this works out =)
Thanks so much!
=====================
Met with flower person to confirm order for 106 roses; passed him Gold Rose to be added into bouquet.
10th December : emailed Cas to confirm itinerary for 24th
11th December : emailed Cas to confirm PS's speech and details for Game to be played.
Got the first glimpse of diamond to be put on ring. Beautiful to behold.
12th December : emailed Cas to rush her; went down to PSD to look around with a guided tour by Cas; follow up email with plot; PS Clears the event
Made reservations at St. Julien's Restaurant (@ 3 Fullerton)
14th December 2007 : Adel fell sick and couldn't go to the Foster Children's home. Had to find another plan quickly; Cas comes up an improvised plan, and we agree on it
17th December 2007 : Powerpoint completed; but can't send over cos it's too big.
Got Ring from Sensei.
18th December 2007 : Provide Cas with NRIC to clear me through security.
Had a daft interview to justify my high CSO grade. wth man.
19th December 2007 : Last ditch try to get Pastor to air proposal video over announcements during service. Denied. Smsed flower guy to add one more flower into bouquet; hence 108 flowers (including the gold one). Didn't charge me for it! =D
20th December 2007
Helped Adel's mother paint the house. Got a hand cramp. No, literally. My hand cramped. At night. Shut up.
23rd December 2007 : Attended Wedding Dinner of Adel's close colleague and friend. Being made fun of for "rehearsing the proposal" was worth it.. totally, just because only I would know it was tomorrow and most of them would be there to see why it was necessary.
24th December 2007 : Proposed to Adel! Got a few hours off from Supervisor to do it. Dropped off a few stops earlier (one stop after my usual stop) to allay suspicions, walked to PSD but quite unfortunately was seen by her colleague whom I saw the day before at the wedding dinner. Had to smoke out by going to MacDonald's and smsing Adel that I was having breakfast there. Thankfully, didn't get seen by anyone else while going up to the event room.
Did, however, get a helluva shock when I saw her colleague inside. Turns out she's in the organising committee. Chey.
Found out that the glass door (Which I was supposed to enter from) was locked and the key was missing, so I had to scrap that plan and hide in the control room, together with the 107 + 1 roses.
There was a dead cockroach inside.
It wasn't the most ventilated place in the world, too.
Waited for around an hour and a half inside and was rather worried kids would try to barge in on me and then scream "There's a funny looking guy inside with a bunch of flowers!" and totally give me away.
Worry worry worry. Wait wait wait.
When I heard the slides start to play, my heartbeat started accelerating like hell. Finally walked out with the huge bouquet after reading off a short paragraph from a slip I was holding, and saw my wife-to-be on the floor weeping away like a willow. Thought I had done something wrong, until I found out she was laughing.
Then started laughing as well.
Finally bent down, pulled her up, gave her the flowers and proposed amidst wolf whistles and screams from her colleagues. My Goodness, I have never seen such a rowdy bunch of civil servants. Except when Taiwan's congress is shown on TV.
Then whisked her off in a Maxicab to St. Julien's!
I know a maxicab's big. This is a lifetime thing. Would you call a normal cab when you aren't sure if the flowers are going to be difficult to handle? (They were, by the way.)
St Julien's had a really good view, and the food was pretty good too! Had Foie gras for starters, pan-seared scallops, turkey breast, and chocolate parfait and coffee with petit fours. The foie gras was slightly gamey to an untested palate, and I can't say I adored it though I hear it's one of the best. The scallops were huge and really nice! Turkey breast was tender and aromatic, and by the end of all that, we were stuffed. Chocolate parfait was nice, and the coffee was really good as well. Too bad we were both too excited to take many pictures =((
Anyway, I declare 24th December 2007 as The Day Adal Proposed to Adel.
And I also declare 27th December 2007 to be chocolate biscuit day.
Video coming on Monday or so! =D
